Reception Team Leader - we are looking for a dynamic team leader who enjoys working with colleagues to achieve superb communication within the practice and excellent client care.
A flexible approach to work is required - some reception duties to include Saturday mornings on rota (one in four) and occasional late shifts. We are open from 8.30 am in the morning, shutting at 7pm weekdays and 11am on Saturdays.
You will ensure the smooth running of reception whilst taking part in the reception duties yourself. You will need a 'can do' attitude to computers and office equipment as well as problem solving for your colleagues. You will be liasing closely with the practice manager, vets and the head nurse on behalf of the rest of your team and will need to remain calm under pressure when an emergency arises.
A good knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook is required. Our own database is veterinary dedicated and Windows based.
Veterinary reception experience is not essential as training will be given, but it would give you a head start if you have some knowledge of how a practice works.
We prefer that you live locally so that you have knowledge of the surrounding area, and also so that you are able to get to the surgery in adverse weather conditions and emergencies.
Salary circa £14500 plus benefits
Nurse Training
We are an approved veterinary nurse training centre, with a strong affiliation to Plumpton College, near Lewes. www.plumpton.ac.uk Places are very limited therefore the demand is very high. The current veterinary nurse trainees will agree that the two year course is demanding but incredibly rewarding. The practice prides itself on the amount of support given to candidates, which produces very high standards and an almost 100% pass rate.
If you are interested in a place please contact us by writing a letter to the Head Nurse with your areas of studies and any interests you may have. We prefer a hand written letter please!
Careers Advice for Students
We get many enquiries from young people considering veterinary medicine or nursing as a career. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has good information on its web site, www.rcvs.org.uk
Like most veterinary practices, we have a constant stream of people wanting to spend time observing our daily routine. These vary from the youngster hooked on Vets in Practice through the teenager seriously considering a future career. We give priority to students already studying for a veterinary degree and needing to gain practical experience as an important part of the course.
We do try to encourage applicants of any level to come along and see the realities of life in a mixed general veterinary practice. We have to restrict our intake of younger students due to the large number of applications, but if you are interested please contact us on:
