Ophthalmology Specialist
Once a month at Heathfield Vets Sally Turner MA VetMB DVOphthal MRCVS provides an ophthalmology referral service. She is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology which means that she is highly trained in her field. See Sally’s website for further details:
She provides a full service to referred patients starting with a complete ophthalmic examination, investigations as required (such as ocular ultrasound and electroretinography to evaluate retinal function) and performs all surgical procedures herself. Surgery can include repair of corneal lacerations or ulcers, eyelid realignment and reconstruction, and cataract surgery (with intraocular lens implantation). In addition to referred patients Sally is also qualified to perform eye tests for breeding purposes under the BVA/KC/ISDS health scheme.
Alongside her clinical work, Sally also regularly lectures to vets and vet nurses and is also an author, with two books published on Veterinary Ophthalmology. She has served on several veterinary committees and is an examiner for both the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons), examining at both Certificate and Diploma level, and the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS).
